Jalan Moh Kahfi Sidewalk Repair Set for Completion by Mid-July

The South Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency is currently repairing the sidewalks on Jalan Moh Kahfi II, Ciganjur, Jagakarsa. It aims to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility in the area.

Sidewalks are for people, not for vehicles

South Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency's Yellow Squad Member, Ahmad Fathur Riyad stated, the sidewalk is being repaired as it serves as a primary access route to a high-traffic mosque.

"We're conducting these repairs to ensure the community can walk safely and comfortably," he expressed, Friday (7/3).

He explained the renovation includes replacing paving blocks with a new red and gray color scheme. Additionally, personnel are applying a plaster base to ensure a sturdy foundation before installing the curbstones.

Six workers have been deployed to repair the 200-meter stretch of sidewalk. To date, the project has reached the 50% milestone, with 100 meters already completed.

"The project commenced a week ago and is slated for completion by mid-July," he explained.

Fathur called on the public, particularly motorists, to refrain from driving or parking on the sidewalk, as it could damage the newly repaired infrastructure.

"Sidewalks are for people, not for vehicles. They are meant for pedestrians and commuters accessing public transit. Let’s not allow these newly improved facilities to be ruined by reckless and irresponsible behavior," he explained.

The repairs received appreciation from the local, Baharudin.

"The sidewalk was previously damaged in several areas, which hindered residents heading to the mosque for prayer. Its condition has now significantly improved," he pointed out.
